  1. Hi, Karen:

You seem to be getting the idea, however, you need to simplify your search statements and connect your ideas using AND. For number 1, the electoral college only deals with presidential elections, so "election reform" AND "electoral college" would probably be enough to get you to the useful articles. You also need to use quotes to surround phrases so the database knows to look for the phrases/words right next to each other and not a word in one paragraph and the other word in another area of the article. Does that make sense?

I think your research question could just be (job or employment) AND Internet AND (search* OR look*), I might start with the first two ideas and see if you need to add or modify your search to zero in on your topic.

    Cheers,
    Andrea

  2. Hi, Karen:

These search statements still seem a bit muddled. I don't see the keyword/concepts delineation and connected with AND/OR. For your question, i think you could try "job search" AND (internet OR online), you don't need to put quotes around one word, the quotes are to enclose a phrase. And for number 3, you could try college AND (degree* OR graduate*) AND (earn* OR salar*), it will probably include comparison to High School educations/graduates as well. I'll post the suggested answers next week and you can see how the statements are constructed.
